QuranScroll is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, what remains on your device, what limited information is transmitted when you use online or purchase features, and how that information is handled.
QuranScroll does not require you to create an account. The app does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell personal information, and does not upload your Quran reading activity, daily reading goals, bookmarks, streaks, reading statistics, Focus App Blocker selections, or personal app preferences to QuranScroll servers.
Some optional features require an internet connection. In particular, optional Google Play purchases require limited purchase and transaction information to be securely transmitted and retained for verification, fraud prevention, aggregate funding progress, and refund handling. These practices are described below.
To provide core app functionality, QuranScroll stores data locally on your device. This may include:
This locally stored reading and preference data is not uploaded to QuranScroll servers. You can remove local app data through applicable in-app controls, your device's app-storage settings, or by uninstalling QuranScroll. Uninstalling or clearing app storage may permanently remove locally stored data.
QuranScroll offers optional one-time Supporter Card purchases through Google Play Billing. Google Play processes the payment. QuranScroll does not receive or store your payment-card number, bank-account details, or Google account password.
When you initiate or complete a Supporter Card purchase, the app transmits the app package name, purchased product identifier, and Google Play purchase token over an encrypted HTTPS connection to QuranScroll's funding service. The service uses the Google Play Developer API to verify and consume the purchase.
After verification, QuranScroll retains a transaction record containing:
This information is used only to verify purchases, prevent duplicate or fraudulent credits, deliver the Supporter Card, maintain an aggregate yearly funding total, and correctly process cancellations, refunds, and voided purchases. The publicly displayed funding goal contains aggregate totals only and does not expose individual purchase records or purchaser identities.
Purchase verification and transaction records are hosted using Google Cloud services, including Cloud Run and Firestore, and may be processed through Google Play and Google Cloud infrastructure. Google handles information under its own applicable terms and privacy policies.
On Android, QuranScroll offers an optional feature called Focus App Blocker. This feature uses Android Accessibility access to detect when an app you selected is opened so QuranScroll can present a Quran reading challenge before allowing access to that app.
If you enable this feature:
Focus App Blocker selections and activity are handled locally on your device and are not uploaded to QuranScroll servers.
QuranScroll allows you to select an image for use as a custom background theme through Android's system photo picker.
QuranScroll may request permission to send notifications for optional reading reminders and Android background-audio controls. Reading reminders can use your locally stored daily goal, progress, streak, preferred reminder time, and saved ayah to create a relevant on-device reminder and return you to your reading position when tapped. Reminder schedules are updated or removed locally when your goal or settings change. This information is not sent to QuranScroll servers. Notification permission is not required to use the main Quran reading features.
QuranScroll may connect to external content providers to stream or download Quran recitations, word audio, Quran fonts, or Tafsir. Current providers include EveryAyah, Quran.com/Quran Foundation services, and other sources identified in the app's Credits section.
When your device requests content from an external provider, that provider may receive standard network information such as your IP address, request time, requested resource, and basic connection or device information. This is necessary to deliver the requested content and is handled according to the provider's own privacy practices. Downloaded content and caches are stored locally on your device.
The app may also request public Discord community information to display the community invitation and approximate online-member count. If you open Discord, a feedback form, or another external link, the destination service's own privacy policy applies.
QuranScroll does not currently use advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs. When the app communicates with QuranScroll's funding service or an external content provider, the service provider may automatically process limited request information, such as IP address, request time, response status, user agent, or similar security and operational logs. This information may be used for service delivery, abuse prevention, debugging, security, and reliability, and is not used by QuranScroll for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Depending on the features you choose to use, QuranScroll may interact with:
These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy policies. QuranScroll does not authorize these providers to use QuranScroll purchase-verification data for advertising.
QuranScroll does not sell personal information and does not share your locally stored Quran reading data, bookmarks, Focus App Blocker selections, or custom background images for advertising or marketing. Limited purchase and technical information is processed by Google Play and Google Cloud only as needed to operate the optional purchase feature, maintain service security, and comply with applicable requirements.
Local information remains on your device until you remove it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Server-side purchase records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to prevent duplicate credits, preserve transaction and funding-goal integrity, handle refunds or disputes, maintain security, and meet legal, tax, accounting, or platform obligations.
To ask a question or make a privacy or deletion request concerning server-side purchase information, email fawwynawwy.dev@gmail.com. Include the Google Play order identifier if your request concerns a purchase. We may need to retain limited information where required for transaction integrity, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
QuranScroll is designed to keep Quran reading activity and most preferences on your device. Purchase-verification requests use HTTPS, raw purchase tokens are replaced by one-way hashes in persistent transaction records, and access to backend records is restricted through Google Cloud access controls. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
QuranScroll does not require children to create an account or provide a name, email address, or phone number. Optional purchases are processed through Google Play and may be subject to Google Play family purchase approvals and parental controls. Parents and guardians should supervise purchases and device-permission choices made by children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to QuranScroll, contact us using the address below.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when QuranScroll's features or data practices change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date on this page.
